1911 Model was never designed to be a target Pistol. Does not mean you can not, it just not designed that way.
Developed jointly by John M. Browning and Colt firearms patent Manufacturing Company, the first semi-automatic .45 ACP Pistol introduced by Colt in 1905. "smokeless .45 caliber Rimless" Automatic Colt Model 1905, although somewhat different from 1911 , clearly established the platform will be the most famous, semi-automatic Pistol made in America in history.
Back in 1907, the Ordnance Department has evaluated the improved version in 1905 for the US Army, but the Gun failed to meet the government's expectations, sending Colt and Browning returned to the drawing board for the design process in 1909 (and again in 1910). This version is a significant improvement, such as changes to the system locking Gun multiple links to a single switch design that is still used today, and dramatic changes to the shape and angle of the handle, John Browning said that would improve the handling characteristics of the weapon. After another field test of the government in February 1910 Browning and Colt has made additional changes, how the weapon was basically regarded as the M1911 except for the thumb safety. A little more than one year later, March 3, 1911, the final version of the Browning semi-automatic has been assessed by the Department of Ordnance. The new .45 ACP works perfectly, firing 6,000 rounds of ammunition without failure and address all the concerns Ordnance Department, including the addition of an external thumb safety so that the Gun can be done with round booths and armed hammer! On March 29, 1911, US Secretary of War Jacob M. Dickinson approve the selection of Colt as "US Pistol, automatic, Caliber .45, Model 1911." As they say, the rest is history.
As a military Pistol, M1911 is exactly what the US needs. But for the civilian market, it left much to be desired. After M1911 has been updated to version M1911Al 1924 (distinguished by a short relaxation, a more secure grip and spring housing curved), Colt developed a Model of the first target, the National Pistol Match, was introduced in 1933. Designed specifically for target shooting, it is equipped with a "super -halus, polished by hand because the action Target 'Match' bidirectional barrel and adjustable rear sight. " original Pistol national game produced until start of the Second World War and had returned in 1957 as the Gold Cup National Match.
Fast forward half a century and Colt 1911 Models are now the most copied semi-automatic in the world. The M1911 has a version adapted for use defensive, targets and shooting competitions available than other Pistol in history, bringing us to a new, 6-inch Gun MAC 1911 Target Bullseye metro Gun arm.
Maxed
I remember buying my first slide length 1911 1988 (which was easy because I still have), and the first thing I did was to have a Gun with a trigger and target range and handles the safety of the mother. I also had the barrel and throat and add customized target sites. At the time, it is a substantial investment and strong in 1911 that are not manufactured by Colt. I ended 1911 with custom length slideshow reliable, accurate and no appeal was lost during the last 25 years. Imagine my surprise when I received the news of the arm metro MAC 1911 Bullseye and found almost the same Gun, right out of the box, as I have custom built a quarter century.
Made in the Philippines by Metro Arms, the new MAC 1911 Bullseye is a refined version, a long-barreled popular Model 1911 Target MAC 1911 classical company, a set of smooth semi-automatic with a wealth of features. While Bullseye shorter than the traditional long slide (which has a 7-inch Gun), MAC 1911 add one inch to 5-inch barrel and a sliding Model of government to create the perfect Pistol targets.
The difference between a Pistol and rifle targets down specific improvements in the operating characteristics, ease of use, speed of reloading, the construction of the barrel and, of course, accuracy. Every feature adds to the price. A custom built Model of governance that would normally set you back anywhere from $ 2,300 to fight Kimber Gold II for $ 2,800 Combat The ultimate Baer Guru, and up to $ 5,000 for a Model of artificial competition from Wilson Combat. Less than $ 2,000, not much Pistol target (outside publishing Trophy Match Springfield Armory), so that when the MAC 1911 Bullseye 6 inches fully optioned come at a suggested retail price of $ 1.204, you should know.
For a little more than the price of the base rate until 1911, metro standard arm gives your Bullseye extra long path, match quality bull barrel; 4140 hammer forged steel blade; Bomar style patterns completely customized; handlebars fitted to the center of the bubble; lit and lowered ejection port; an extended beavertail grip safety; targeting framework trigger and hammer combat; front and rear slide serrations broad; a subtle plaid spring frontstrap and flats; an ambidextrous thumb safety; an extended magazine well; and the eight-round magazine. For the most part, this is a list of features considered necessary upgrades to the target .45 ACP Pistol competition, so you have to ask the obvious question. How well the Metro Weapon build its 1911s? Do they have the quality fit and finish you expect from a quality target Pistol match? And most importantly, how do they learn? Although the standard features of the MAC 1911 Bullseye involve high expectations that the price does not work, it all shakes out a range of tests.
Bullseyes striking
MAC 1911 Bullseye has a combination of matte / polished jumbo frame and slide, with polished shiny flat surface. The top of the slide is tilted and smooth matte finishes in a blue / black, which is the bottom of the chassis, the apartments at the slide serrations, front and backstrap, sloping good magazine, security thumb, press the beaver slide and safety. Custom wood handles have a deep texture, fish scale design with border line and arms metro logo in the middle. Visually, it is a firearm generous finish.
Trigger test my weapons an average light 4.8 pounds. The trigger is injection molded metal frame and has established networks in the face. Trigger adjustable travel just 0.125 inch to 0.062 inch drop the hammer and ignored overrun. Release slide is lightweight and easily activated (even when not chambering rounds). Click ambidextrous thumb safety up and down with authority, and chicken hammer with modest effort. Slide requires a strong, but not excessive, pull to release the Gun or chambering the first round. It is, however, very fast, solid traction in the back, making it feel a little different from the traditional Model of government backward slide since spring extended. In addition, an extra inch barrel length zipper and increase the radius of view and make the Gun just a little nose heavy, which is an advantage for target Pistol.
Because of the quality of fit of the barrel of a bullseye bull is some error loading ammunition road, my test cartridge comprises 230 WFSJ defensive towers plus three popular item. The top scale is 230 defensive Hydra-Shok federal premium grain jacketed hollow point (JHPs), followed by 185 grain Hornady FTX critical defense and Speer Gold Dot HP tower. The Bullseye manage but each may have an electrical problem with the cost of defense (Metro Arms had a change of spring back to fix this problem). This, however, is not a problem with Hydra-Shoks, but there are some blockages with lightweight 185-grainers.
The hardball .45 ACP passed my chronograph trap to 850 fps, Federal Hydra-Shok Heavyweight slightly faster at 873 fps, while Hornady and Speer once stolen 1030 fps. All tests were performed using a two-handed grip position stood at 25 yards (75 feet), suspension shoot IPSC targets of the target carrier-Pro various law enforcement targets.
The best group of five rounds with 230 grain ammunition hardball measured even 2 inches clustered around the "A" of the IPSC targets. Defense ammunition, 230 federal grain JHPs work better in the MAC 1911 in 1911 but had the widest group size of 1.95 inches. Tower Speer 185 grain products a tight group, measuring 0.85 inches, with five rounds of 185 grain Hornady FTX reunification of 1.75 inches, but there are occasional problems with strength in both the MAC 1911. For target shooting, 230 grains of some error is the best ( and most affordable) option.
In addition to the occasional failure to feed with 185-rounds of ammunition defensive, MAC 1911 works perfectly, fast to reload, and the adjustable rear view style Bomar and trigger a sharp, proved more than enough in a tight group of print jobs, off-hand shooting at 25 yard with open sites.
Built in strong
MAC 1911 as a firearm Bullseye check the quality of construction, but not everything is perfect in design. Has a 6-inch barrel, recoil spring and guide rod lengthwise into two sections present an interesting challenge when etching field Gun, and disassembly and reassembly (we just do not reverse order) must be properly addressed. It is in the process of stripping the more traditional field in 1911, but again, this is not the traditional 1911. As a special Gun targets, the MAC 1911 performs well, and, with practice and ammunition hand, can easily afford the printing unit is less than 1 inch at 25 yards.
Overall, for the entry of competition Pistol, MAC 1911 Bullseye appears to be a reasonable price. It is also available with a hard chrome finish to the handlebars with plush red colored optical fiber.
