Smith & Wesson’s M&P9 For Competition or Defense (Review)
When shooting in pistol competition, timing and accuracy is most important. Rapid identification of the target and fire quickly and accurately repeated in the middle of the target "area A" you net the highest score. In the scenario of the home defense, time and accuracy are also important factors. Smith & Wesson made her 5-inch M & P9 Performance Center Portage (M & P9 vent PC) to improve the performance of the M & P pistol line so that they can be taken in the competition, right out of the box. Conventional wisdom does not include custom built pistol competition to fill the role of a weapon in defense. Top End
M & P9 Performance Center Portage based on the version of the striker-fired polymer-framed M & P9 pistol sliding along the popular five-inch gun, but offers a few upgrades were carried out by people from the Smith & Wesson Performance Center. Shooting Impressions
We took the M & P9 Worn PC to the beach to see if improvements Performance Center really make a difference. We've been fans of the regular line of M & Ps and gained quite a lot of time behind the two versions spare stock and modified.
We set up a mix of styles IPSC paper targets and a steel plate at a distance ranging from 5 feet 25 yards. Under the weather, we ran a course of fire with some shooter and evaluated each race for time and accuracy. Ammunition-wise, we tried PMC Bronze UMC 115 grain Remington 147 grain Speer Gold Dot and Personal Protection + P hollow point fault conditions.
We started the session without iron sights mounted optics. Our first impression was that the pistol would like to keep the nose down. Experienced shooters have no problem transitioning to the iron sights CMAS and faster through the course of fire without it. However, that's another story for the rest of the shooter ,. It's easy to get lost trying to find a red dot when you are not using one accostomed, especially if you are short and Gunning dynamic field. But we continue to use it, we all got faster and faster with it. Once you get the hang of it, the CMA is really fun. CMA co-witness with iron sights raised no problem.
Charged in the Dark
As part of using a pistol improved performance in defense, we went to the beach where we can control the lighting. For many situations in defense occurs at night, we wanted to see how explosive barrels obsolete affect natural night vision. The general view is that the barrels of obsolete night vision blind users.
